Additional Certifications. For certifications related to the employee’s job classification received after ratification and approval the City will pay an incentive of $260 per year paid at $10 per pay period per approved certification (not added to the salary schedule). Any certifications, licenses, or qualifications deemed beneficial and approved by the Department Head and the City Manager. Employee must obtain prior City approval before obtaining certificate, license, or training. The City will pay the cost of training leading to the above. Time for obtaining the above will not be considered hours worked since the employee is voluntarily obtaining the certification on his/her own time. The $10 incentive will be paid in the paycheck after confirmation by the City that the certificate, license or training has been obtained. Should a promotional opportunity, within the same division, arise, the employee will apply for the position. If the employee is promoted to another position, the employee will no longer receive the incentive. If the employee is not selected for the position, the incentive will still be paid to the employee until the employee is promoted to another position. Eligible certifications and criteria will be established and finalize by the end September 2015. Note: The Union and City desire to provide an achievable career path for City employees. To this end during the period of July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016, the City and Union will strive to meet the following milestones.
