Electronic PHI definition

Electronic PHI means PHI created, received, maintained or transmitted electronically in accordance with 45 CFR § 160.103.

Electronic PHI means PHI which is transmitted by Electronic Media (as defined in the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rule) or maintained in Electronic Media.

Electronic PHI means PHI that is transmitted by or maintained in electronic media and shall have the meaning given to such term under HIPAA and the HIPAA Regulations, including 45 CFR § 160.103. For the purposes of this BA AGREEMENT, Electronic PHI includes all computerized data, as defined in California Civil Code §§ 1798.29 and 1798.82.

Examples of Electronic PHI in a sentence

• Upon reasonable request, Business Associate shall provide Covered Entity access to its premises for a review and demonstration of its internal practices and procedures for safeguarding PHI and Electronic PHI.

• Business Associate shall use and implement administrative, physical, and technical safeguards that reasonably and appropriately protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of PHI and/or Electronic PHI that it creates, receives, maintains, or transmits on behalf of Covered Entity, including implementing requirements of 45 C.F.R. Part 164 Subpart C with regard to Electronic PHI.

• Provided, however, that Covered Entity shall not be required to report an immaterial incident consisting solely of an unsuccessful attempt to improperly access Electronic PHI that is stored in an information system under its control.

• Business Associate shall use appropriate safeguards, and comply with Subpart C of 45 CFR Part 164 with respect to Electronic PHI, to prevent use or disclosure of PHI other than as provided for by the Agreement.

• In addition, Business Associate agrees to comply with the applicable requirements of 45 C.F.R. Part 164 Subpart C with respect to Electronic PHI and any guidance issued by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

More Definitions of Electronic PHI

Electronic PHI means PHI that is transmitted by Electronic Media or is maintained in Electronic Media. Examples of Electronic PHI include PHI that is electronically transmitted and maintained on devices such as cell phones, PDAs, text pagers, and USB static discs.

Electronic PHI means Protected Health Information that is maintained in or transmitted by electronic media.

Electronic PHI means information that comes within paragraphs 1(i) or 1(ii) of the definition of “Protected Health Information”, as defined in 45 C.F.R. § 160.103.

Electronic PHI means the PHI that is transmitted or maintained by Business Associate on behalf of Provider in electronic media, including, but not limited to, hard drives, disks, on the internet, or on an intranet.

Electronic PHI means Protected Health Information that is transmitted by or maintained in Electronic Media as that term is defined at 45 C.F.R. §160.103.
