Splitter definition

Splitter means a device used in conjunction with a DSLAM either to combine or separate the high (DSL) and low (voice) frequency spectrums of the Loop in order to provide both voice and data over a single Loop.
Splitter is a device that divides the data and voice signals concurrently moving across the loop, directing the voice traffic through copper tie cables to the switch and the data traffic through another pair of copper tie cables to multiplexing equipment for delivery to the packet-switched network. The Splitter may be directly integrated into the DSLAM equipment or may be externally mounted.

More Definitions of Splitter

Splitter means a design that splits the main section gears in two (usually) variants, low- and high split gears, whose gear ratios are close compared to the ratio coverage of the transmission. A splitter can be a separate sub-transmission, an add-on device, integrated with the main section or a combination thereof;
Splitter means a passive optical multiplexing device that comprises multiple beam splitters. A Splitter takes a single downstream wavelength from the Feeder Fibre and passively copies it to multiple Distribution Fibres. Upstream wavelengths from the Distribution Fibres are multiplexed into a single upstream Feeder Fibre (Typically, electronics at each end use Bandwidth or Time Division Multiplexing techniques to avoid interference between upstream wavelengths from different Distribution Fibres).
Splitter means a ring-shaped device that does both of the following:
Splitter has the meaning set forth in the recitals to this Agreement.
Splitter means a knife-type, nonrotating spreader.
Splitter shall have the meaning set forth in the preamble.
Splitter means an employee splitting posts, droppers, rails, slabs or palings.
