Wages definition

Wages is defined as the amount of money the employee would have otherwise received over a period of absence.
Wages and "salaries" means earnings in eligible employment under this chapter
Wages means all remuneration whether by way of salaries, allowances or otherwise, expressed in terms of money or capable of being so expressed which would, if the terms of employment, express or implied, were fulfilled, be payable to a person employed in respect of his employment or of work done in such employment, and includes,—

Examples of Wages in a sentence

  • Wages shall be paid into the employee’s bank/ building society account the following Friday for hours worked up to midnight Saturday the previous week.

  • Wages for apprentices shall be calculated by applying a fixed percentage to the rates of specific trades as provided by the applicable award or order.

  • Wages and benefits paid for a standard working week meet, at a minimum, national legal standards or industry benchmark standards, whichever is higher.

More Definitions of Wages

Wages and "salaries" means the member's earnings in eligible employment under
Wages. The term "wages" shall mean the compensation prescribed in this Agreement.
Wages means all remuneration paid or payable, in cash to an employee, if the terms of the contract of employment, express or implied, were fulfilled and includes 4[any payment to an employee in respect of any period of authorised leave, lock-out, strike which is not illegal or lay-off and] other additional remuneration, if any, 5[paid at intervals not exceeding two months], but does not include—
Wages means all remuneration, capable of being expressed in terms of money, which would, if the terms of the contract of employment, express or implied, were fulfilled, be payable to a person employed in respect of his employment or of work done in such employment, 1[and includes house rent allowance], but does not include—
Wages means "wages" as defined in Section 3401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code and includes other income subject to withholding as provided in Section 3401(f) and Section 3402(k), (o), (p), (q), and (s) of the Internal Revenue Code;
Wages means all remuneration for personal services, including commissions and bonuses and the cash value of all remuneration in any medium other than cash. Wages also means wages in lieu of notice, separation allowance, severance pay, or dismissal pay. The reasonable cash value of remuneration in any medium other than cash shall be estimated and determined in accordance with rule 23.2(96).
