Acting Pay. a) Where an employee is required, in writing, by the Employer to perform the majority of the duties of a higher position within the bargaining unit classification on an acting basis for a period of ten (10) or more consecutive working days, he/she shall be paid acting pay calculated from the date of appointment to the higher classification level as if he/she had been appointed to that higher classification level for the period in which he/she acts. b) When an employee is temporarily assigned to a position paying a lower rate, his/her rate shall not be reduced.
