The Annual Job Bid shall be held annually in the month of March. The bid will show the number of departmental openings. Each employee will be brought into the office in order of seniority to sign the bid, at which time he must sign the bid and indicate his preference. The transfer of will be affected commencing on the first Sunday of the monthof April. The results of the annual job bid will be posted for at least seven (7)days prior to the annual change and the local Union's area office concerned will be given copies when completed. The appropriate Shop Xxxxxxx will have the authority to sign on behalf of any employee who is absent at the time of the annual job bid due to sickness, injury, leave of absence or vacation. Employees will only be transferred if the required qualifications are approved by the Company. Personnel transferring under the above conditions shall assume positions according to and maintaining their terminal seniority. Employees who have been off work for more than calendar days and do not have a definite return to work date, will not be given an opportunity to book. However, when they are cleared to return to work, they will be allowed to displace any employee with less seniority. Such displaced employee will also have the right to displace any employee with less seniority and so on. If a driver knows that he will be unavailable for a period of time, he must contact the dispatcher and make him aware of such period ofunavailability. a dispatcher is trying to reach a driver, he will keep trying until hours and minutes before the dispatch time except for Sunday night dispatches which will be completedprior to the proceeding Friday night, or Thursdaynight if Friday is a Paid Holiday. Failure to reach such driver by that time will result in the dispatcher offering the remaining dispatches at the time that driver does call in.
