Architecture and Reuse. NASA’s ESE intends to explore, via prototyping, whether open source software development efforts sharing ESE custom code could enable greater re-use across ESE’s science data systems. The intent of this effort would be to contribute to the following overall ESE goals: • Reduction of the cost of supporting future missions, science, and applications; • Increase flexibility and responsiveness to new missions, science and applications; and • Increased effective, accountable community participation in system development and operations.
