Assigned Holidays. A "shift worker" is any employee working any schedule other than 37 Monday through Friday, eight-to-four (8 - 4) shift, as their regular workweek. 38 39 All employees, including "shift workers", working an eight-to-four (8 - 4) shift on Monday 40 through Friday on which their day off for the Holiday or the actual Holiday occurs shall be 41 given the eight-to-four (8 - 4) shift off and the eight-to-four (8 - 4) shift shall be put up for 42 overtime, if necessary. In the event the eight-to-four (8 - 4) shift is rejected by all 43 employees on the overtime roster, the employee who was first eligible shall be required to 44 work the shift. 45 46 Any employee desiring to take his "Automatically Assigned Holiday" off must notify the 47 Superintendent at least four (4) days in advance and shall be given his holiday shift off 48 providing the shift can be filled through the overtime roster. If everyone on the overtime 1 roster rejects the shift the "shift worker" who normally works the shift shall be required to 3 given the day off only at the discretion of the Superintendent.

Assigned Holidays. 1. New Year's Day, January 1; 2. Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day, the third Monday in January; 3. President's Day, the third Monday in February; 4. Memorial Day, the last Monday in May; 5. Independence Day, July 4; 6. Labor Day, the first Monday in September; 7. Veterans’ Day 8. Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in November; 9. Day After Thanksgiving; 10. Christmas Day, December 25; 11. And every day appointed by the President of the United States or Governor of the State for public feast, Thanksgiving or holiday, when specifically authorized by the Board of Supervisors. If a paid assigned holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be the holiday in lieu of the day observed. If a paid, assigned holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be the holiday in lieu of the day observed. For those employees regularly scheduled to work Saturday and/or Sunday, the paid assigned holiday shall be the day on which the holiday actually occurs. A. In addition to the holidays listed above, effective January 1st of each year, each regular, full-time employee covered under the terms of this Agreement, shall be granted floating holiday leave hours equivalent to the employee’s standard daily work schedule. For employees on 9/80 schedules, such Holiday Leave shall be equivalent to the work schedule for the day of the Holiday. If an employee works a variable schedule, then hours shall be granted based on an average daily work schedule. Hours granted under this section shall in no case exceed twelve (12) hours. Such leave with pay may be taken, subject to management approval, no later than March 1 of the year following the year in which it was granted. Leave granted pursuant to this provision shall have no cash value beyond that provided herein and shall be lost without benefit of compensation if not taken by March 1 as described above. Use of annual floating holiday leave requires prior management approval. The purpose of granting annual floating holiday leave hours is to provide employees with an additional day off with pay. Therefore, an employee’s annual floating holiday leave hours shall be utilized in their entirety to cover a single day’s absence. In no instance will an employee be allowed to split his annual allowance of floating holiday leave hours over multiple days. B. Regular less than full-time employees shall be granted the leave provided under (A) above on a pro-rata basis.
Assigned Holidays. 1. Paid assigned holidays are: New Year's Day (January 1); President’s Day (third Monday in February); Memorial Day; Independence Day (July 4); Labor Day; Veteran's Day; Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday in November); Christmas Day (December 25) and every day appointed by the Governor of the State for a public thanksgiving or public holiday shall be paid assigned holidays. If a holiday falls on an employee’s regular day off between Monday and Friday, it moves to the employee’s closest workday (e.g., Monday moves to Tuesday and Friday moves to Thursday). If an employee’s holiday moves to another workday, and the employee is required to work on that day, the employee shall receive time and one half for the hours worked on the holiday in addition to being paid for his/her regular hours for that day. 2. If a holiday falls during any other approved paid leave of absence (e.g., sick leave, vacation or jury duty) the day of the holiday shall be considered holiday leave and the other paid leave will not be utilized. 3. When the site is opened on a holiday, employees shall be offered the right to work on the holiday per a rotation process so that each of the employees in the unit will be offered the right to work the holiday. The rotation process will include lists of each classification within the bargaining unit and employees within each list will be organized based on seniority in District employment. Prior to each holiday, management will determine the number of employees within each classification necessary to operate the landfill. On the effective date of this MOU, the first person who will be offered the right to work on such a holiday will be the most senior employee in each classification and District management will then go down the lists in seniority order. If an employee is offered the right to work a holiday and declines, he/she will be bypassed and the next person will be asked and so on. Once District management has achieved the desired number of employees within each classification, management will stop going down the lists. At the next opportunity, the next person in order on each list will be asked. (v) Nor shall this restriction apply to an employee who has been late up to seventy five (75) spaces (forty five (45) minutes) the work day immediately preceding the holiday or the work day immediately following such holiday. 21:02 An employee shall receive any overtime pay to which he/she is entitled in accordance with Articles 12:01 and 12:02 for the work that he/she performs on such statutory holiday, in addition to his/her holiday pay. 21:03 For the purposes of clarity, the parties agree that the benefit provided in this article constitute a greater right or benefit than provided for in the Employment Standards Act.

  • Scheduled Holidays Holidays for certain employees, typically 24/7 facilities, are pre-scheduled on days other than the holidays mentioned in Section 1. This schedule is determined in advance. If employees who have their holiday pre-scheduled are required to work on that pre-scheduled holiday day, they are compensated as follows: a.) Cash overtime employees are paid for the number of holiday hours pre-scheduled plus payment at the rate of time and one-half for the number of hours actually worked. b.) Compensatory leave eligible employees are paid for the number of hours prescheduled plus credited with holiday compensatory time for the number of hours actually worked, which must be used within one (1) year after having accrued this time. This provision does not apply to an employee who is on leave without pay during the same pay period as the assigned holiday.

  • Weekdays All work performed outside of the designated shift Monday through Friday shall be paid at time and one-half (1-1/2) the straight-time hourly wage rate.

  • PAID HOLIDAYS 12.01 The following days are recognized as holidays under this Agreement: New Year's Day Family Day Good Friday Easter Sunday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day Boxing Day Christmas Day 12.02 Full-time employees required to work on a paid holiday shall have the option of either: (a) Pay at the rate of two times (2x) the employee's regular rate of pay for work performed on such holiday, in addition to the employee's regular pay, or (b) Pay at the rate of two times (2x) the employee's regular rate for work performed on such holiday and an alternate day off with pay at a time that is mutually agreed upon between the Employer and the employee. The alternate day off is to be taken within six (6) months after the holiday upon mutual agreement between the Employer and Employee. 12.03 If a paid holiday falls within a full-time employee’s normal schedule/rotation they shall have the option to either work the holiday with the appropriate pay or to request the holiday off, subject to operational requirements. Requests for the holiday off must be made prior to the work schedule being posted for that period. 12.04 In order to qualify for pay for a holiday, an employee shall complete her full shift on each of the scheduled working days immediately preceding and following the holiday concerned unless excused by the Employer or the employee was absent due to: (a) approved sick leave; (b) vacation granted by the Employer; (c) the employee's regular scheduled day off; (d) a paid leave of absence provided the employee is not otherwise compensated for the holiday. (a) Where a holiday falls on an employee's scheduled day off, an additional day off with pay will be scheduled at a mutually acceptable time. (b) Where a holiday falls during an employee's scheduled vacation period, her vacation shall be extended by one (1) day unless the employee and the Employer agree to schedule a different day off with pay. 12.06 A tour that begins or ends during the twenty-four (24) hour period of the above holidays, where the majority of hours worked falls within the holiday, shall be deemed to be work performed on the holiday for the full period of the tour.

  • Work on Holidays An employee who is required to work, or works with prior approval, any part of a holiday shall receive holiday compensatory time for up to eight (8) hours, on an hour for hour basis, for the actual non-overtime hours worked in addition to their regular rate of pay. An employee who works overtime on a holiday shall be compensated in accordance with all applicable pay and overtime provisions. An employee must use holiday compensatory time within one (1) year after having accrued that time.

  • Recognized Holidays 2201 For purposes of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), Xxxxx Xxxx Day (la journée Xxxxx Xxxx), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one (1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earned.
