At Work on Public Holidays. 25.4.1 It is recognised that the employer operates a year round business and in some divisions operate a 24/7 roster operation (KiwiRail Infrastructure and Asset Management – Train Controllers, Signal Box Controllers and Traction Control Operators – refer to KiwiRail Infrastructure and Asset Management schedule). As such you may be requested to work on a public holiday if you are rostered to work on that day. If you work on a public holiday:

However, KiwiRail Infrastructure and Asset Management understands that employees will want to enjoy public holidays and so will invite employees to volunteer to work on these days. However, in the event that there are no, or insufficient, volunteers, employees whose shifts would otherwise have fallen on the day, will need to fill their shifts. If you work on a public holiday and that day would otherwise be a working day;

  • Public Holidays 11.1 The following days are public holidays: New Year's Day, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and any other gazetted public holidays in the relevant state or territory in which the work is being performed, other than:

  • Work on Holidays An employee who is required to work, or works with prior approval, any part of a holiday shall receive holiday compensatory time for up to eight (8) hours, on an hour for hour basis, for the actual non-overtime hours worked in addition to their regular rate of pay. An employee who works overtime on a holiday shall be compensated in accordance with all applicable pay and overtime provisions. An employee must use holiday compensatory time within one (1) year after having accrued that time.

  • Annual Leave Exclusive of Public Holidays The period of annual leave prescribed by this clause is exclusive of any public holidays, and if any such holiday falls within an employee’s period of annual leave and is observed on a day which in the case of that employee would have been an ordinary working day, there will be added to the period of annual leave time equivalent to the ordinary time which the employee would have worked if such day had not been a holiday.

  • Overtime Holidays Double time the regular rate for work on the following holiday(s). New Year's Day
