Common use of Bereavement/Compassionate Leave Clause in Contracts

Bereavement/Compassionate Leave. 2.17.1 Employees are entitled to leave without loss of pay (in the case of permanent Employees) for up to two (2) days compassionate leave for each occasion (a permissible occasion) when: (a) a spouse, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of the employee; or (b) a child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of a spouse of the employee:- (i) contracts or develops a personal illness that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or (ii) sustains a personal injury that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or
