Booking of Work Shifts. The order of booking in the Vehicle Maintenance Department shall be as follows: Motor Mechanics Body Repairers Stores Staff Garage Attendants Automotive Electricians Unit Repair Staff Bookings will be held in the Plant Department as follows: Energy Systems General Repairers Building Service Attendants The booking sheets shall specify all locations. Employees shall book in order of seniority in their respective classifications. Employees required to book will be notified in the form of a Notice or Memorandum posted with booking sheets. Employees unable to attend this booking due to sickness or vacation, must advise the Management Official in charge of their booking and Union Officials of their selection in writing prior to a.m. on the day preceding the booking. Other employees who are absent shall be booked by Management and Union Officials attending and such booking shall be final. Employees who must attend such bookings outside their regular working hours shall receive hours pay at straight time rates. Proposed establishments and work shifts shall be posted at least two weeks prior to a booking and the Commission undertakes to submit the establishments and shifts to the Union at least one week prior to posting. The booking shall be conducted by officials appointed by the Commission and the Union shall designate its officials to attend. The Commission agrees to pay the cost of the wages for one Union official to attend General Bookings at each booking site with a minimum of 4 hours pay at straight time or overtime rates if applicable. Minor changes in shifts may become necessary from time to time in order to maintain efficient operations. Such changes shall be discussed with the Union before being introduced. Changes in shifts shall be, in the first instance, of a voluntary nature but failing this, the junior employee on the shift must accept the change. Changes in shifts affecting a number of employees may call for a General Booking. A booking does not not bind the Commission to guarantee work to all employees in the job they book as it may become necessary to adjust establishments to meet operating requirements. During the period between the date that a booking has taken place and the effective date of such booking, the Union agrees that Management has the right to make necessary staff moves to allow for the training of employees taking up new duties.

Should a change be made than hours before the scheduled start of a shift, the Company will pay overtime rates for those new hours outside of the previously scheduled hours on that day. This provision does not apply to first day rescheduling when caused by circumstances beyond the control of the Company (i.e. sickness replacement, bereavement leave replacement, and emergencies). By the Tuesday immediately preceding an employee going on annual leave of five (5) days or more, shall be given a time to report back to work. When an employee is required to work hours in excess of weekly hours or regular daily hours, will be compensated for that work in one of the following two ways: Overtime hours exceeding thirty-seven and one- half (37 1/21 hours per week shall be paid at one and one-half the employee's basic rate. The employee may, at his option, have time off with pay in lieu of being paid for overtime. The amount of time off will be calculated in the same fashion as overtime pay and shall be scheduled the same as extra days off. There shall be no pyramiding of overtime and therefore overtime shall,not be paid under more than one sub-article of this Agreement. The Company shall attempt to apportion overtime equitably among employees within a job function. No claim for compensation for excess hours worked will be honoured unless the excess hours of work have been expressly authorized or requested in advance by the appropriate head. An extra off shall be defined as twelve (12) hours plus a turnaround period and should be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time. A tour of duty shall mean the authorized approved time worked by an employee during a day, calculated to the end of the last quarter hour in which work was performed, provided that if it extends beyond midnight, it be considered as falling wholly within the calendar day in which it starts. With the exception of Engineering employees, all employees who are recalled to work outside of their regularly scheduled hours shall receive a minimum of two hours call time. ARTICLE

  • Hours and Days of Work (A) The purpose of this article is to define the normal hours of work, but nothing in this agreement shall be construed as a guarantee of work for any period.
