Common use of Break Period Clause in Contracts

Break Period. 1. The basic straight-time workday shall consist of eight (8) hours to be worked consecutively, except for a scheduled uninterrupted meal period of one-half (1/2) hour to be taken as near as practicable to the middle of the work shift, and one (1) paid fifteen (15) minute break during each four (4) hours of work or major fraction thereof. Alternative straight-time workdays shall consist of ten (10) and twelve (12) hours with similar meal and break periods. 2. The parties agree that employees scheduled to work six (6) hours or less shall not be required to take a meal period.
