Carrying out Duties. The University agrees that Stewards will be given reasonable freedom of action in investigating grievances or potential grievances and discussing resolutions. It is agreed that no Union official or Xxxxxxx will leave his/her work without first obtaining permission from his/her Supervisor, which will not be unreasonably withheld. Every reasonable effort will be made to schedule the meetings required under this Grievance Procedure at mutually agreed times which do not conflict with scheduled work assignments. When this is not possible, an employee, whether as a Grievor, witness, or Union representative who is required to be absent from work will suffer no loss of pay and benefits to which he/she would otherwise be entitled as a bargaining unit employee.

Permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. b) Every reasonable effort will be made to schedule the grievance meetings with the Employer under this Grievance Procedure at mutually agreeable times which do not conflict with scheduled work assignments. When this is not possible, employees who attend grievance meetings with the Employer during their regularly scheduled straight-time working hours will suffer no loss of pay and benefits.
