COMPOSITE CREWS. 11.1 The use of Composite Crews does not establish precedent or change the appropriate jurisdiction of the crafts involved. Composite crews may be formed where conditions warrant, but this is not to be construed under regular operating conditions as the Employers prerogative to assign workers out of their usual skill classification. The principle of “One Person, One Job” will be used to determine composite crews. A composite crew shall normally be determined no later than at the Xxxx-Up Meeting with prior notice to be given to the Local Unions involved.
11.2 The Employer may maintain a variety of skills within its group of employees to be prepared to have skills and/or supervision for any type of work that may arise.
11.3 It is understood that all employees will work together harmoniously as a group and as directed by the Employer.
11.4 In the event that any jurisdictional disputes shall arise between two or more Unions represented by this Agreement, an immediate assignment of the work in question shall be made by the Employer representative, based upon decisions and agreements of record or other information available. The work is then to continue and, if any of the Unions involved are not satisfied with the assignment, the matter shall be referred to the Site Project Committee involved for a decision.
11.5 The Employer and the Unions agree that such assignment of work involved in a jurisdictional dispute is imperative to the satisfactory operation of this Agreement and the continued operation of Ontario Power Generation and Xxxxx Power LP Projects.
COMPOSITE CREWS. It is recognized by the Employer and the Union that the performance of work subject to this Agreement will require the use of composite crews; that is, crews made up of Employees in classifications represented by more than one Union. It is understood that only qualified craft persons from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers shall work on or within the minimum approach distance of energized electrical conductors, with the exception of HVAC, which will be worked by the appropriate crafts. It is agreed that such crews may be assembled and worked under one qualified Xxxxxxx if a Xxxxxxx is deemed necessary, irrespective of the Union affiliation of such Xxxxxxx. The Xxxxxxx of a composite crew will be selected by the Employer. In making such selection, the Employer will give due consideration to the nature of the work to be performed. However, this in no way shall restrict the exclusive right of the Employer to determine the necessity for and the identity of its Xxxxxxx as set forth in Management Rights.
COMPOSITE CREWS. Section 1. The employer shall assign work on the basis of traditional work jurisdictional lines. It is recognized that on some jobs effective production will require the use of composite crews. When such circumstances exist, the employer and the representatives of the unions involved shall meet and mutually agree to the make-up of the crew on the basis of the amount of work involved for each union. In the performance of such work, all employees will perform the work they are assigned.
COMPOSITE CREWS. 16.01 The Council and Association are committed to:
a) maintaining a healthy, respectful and trusting work environment;
b) fostering open and positive relations; and
c) working cooperatively to maximize productivity.
16.02 The Council and Association acknowledge that the use of composite crews as provided in this Agreement will enhance productivity and promote a team approach to executing work. There shall be a composite crew committee consisting of the following:
a) the Council site representative and any persons designated by the Council;
b) the Association site representative and any persons designated by the Association;
c) a representative of each affected Union for each specific composite crew request; and
d) a representative of the Association or affected Contractor(s), if any, for each specific composite crew requested.
16.03 Composite crews may be utilized for commissioning work as per Article 36.04.
16.04 Composite crews for other specific scopes of work may be utilized subject to the following:
a) The composite crew committee, prior to the markup, if practical, or prior to the start up of the work for which the composite crew is requested shall be provided by the Association with the following:
i. scope of work for which the composite crew is requested;
ii. trades to be utilized for the composite crew;
iii. the number of hours estimated to complete the scope of work for each trade on the basis of normal jurisdictional trade assignments; and
iv. the estimated number of members per trade to create the composite crew requested. Each trade, subject to availability, shall provide members to work on the composite crew on a pro-rata basis as per the estimated hours of work per trade.
b) The creation of composite crew(s) for a specific scope of work shall be subject to the consent of each Union providing members to the composite crew no later than Day 11 in the markup process or such later date as agreed to by the affected parties. Where mutually agreed by the Association or Contractor(s) and the affected Unions to be necessary, assignment of work may be to composite crews. The request for composite crews by the Association or Contractor(s) will not be unreasonably denied.
16.05 Upon achieving agreement for the utilization of a composite crew for a specific scope of work, the following procedure or guidelines shall be followed:
a) Each Union, subject to availability, shall provide members to work on the composite crew on a pro-rated basis as per the est...
COMPOSITE CREWS. A member of Local 1399 working together with a member of another Brotherhood in a composite crew shall receive the rate of pay that is the higher of the two (2) total wage packages involved.
COMPOSITE CREWS. The Parties agree that construction trade jurisdictions shall be respected. However, in order to enhance productivity and efficiency on the Project, workers will be expected, from time to time, to perform work assignments outside of their trade jurisdiction, provided that they have the capabilities and qualifications to perform the work safely.
COMPOSITE CREWS. The Employer shall assign work on the basis of traditional work jurisdictional lines. It is, however, recognized that on some jobs effective production will require the use of composite crews. When such circumstances exist, the Employer shall, at a pre-job conference, or prior to implementation, discuss the work involved and the make-up of the crews on the basis of the amount of work involved for each Union. In the performance of such work, all employees will perform the work they are assigned.
COMPOSITE CREWS. 19.5.1.1 A composite crew means a crew consisting of more than one trade which has been assigned by a Contractor or Subcontractor to carry out, on a teamwork basis, a specified construction activity.
19.5.1.2 Composite Crews will be allowed on the Projects. The Contractor will be responsible for ensuring each of the trades involved are qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective assigned work components, safety standards are not compromised and the composite crew assignment is consistent with prevailing area practice.
19.5.1.3 If any dispute arises as to the appropriateness of a composite crew, the matter shall immediately be referred to MFESRA. MFESRA shall consult with the MBCTC and the Parties will review all information tendered in support of proceeding on a composite crew basis versus proceeding on the basis of traditional trade work assignments. If necessary, MFESRA shall have final approval as to whether or not a composite crew may be utilized.
COMPOSITE CREWS. A contractor operating a modular assembly facility may assign work to a composite crew consisting of workers from those trades ordinarily assigned the work. Crews will consist of workers from the relevant trades in roughly the same proportion as there is work under their jurisdiction on the average module under construction. A worker on the crew may be assigned to perform any work on the modular assembly that they are competent to perform, provided that any work which requires a ticket or a particular qualification to perform is conducted in accordance with all Alberta Government Regulations. It is understood that this provision will apply in most instances to work involving Structural Ironworkers and the United Association. Where the work involved is primarily piping work the supervision of the work will fall to a United Association supervisor and where the work involved is primarily structural ironwork then supervision of the work will fall to an Ironworker supervisor. This is not to be construed under normal modular assembly facility conditions as the Employers’ prerogative to assign employees out of their regular trade classifications. The unions are in agreement with the premise that modular assembly facility workers will be kept gainfully employed at productive work. Where other trades are involved in composite crews, this provision may be applied by the contractor/subcontractor that employs those trades. Prior to the contractor/subcontractor implementing composite crews there shall be an agreement with the appropriate union representatives as to composition of the crew and the distribution of the work assignment to the workers. Such agreement will not be unreasonably withheld. The decision to use composite crews will be made at the senior site management level of the contractor and not field supervision. It is further understood that the intent of this article is for short term situations and/or small projects with limited manpower. If members of any union disagree with the composite crew arrangements in regards to not being provided their appropriate proportion of work on that site pursuant to established jurisdictional practice, they may use the following procedure to remedy the situation:
