Cost Share Agreements. The FPA will notify the DIVISION Regional/State Duty Officer, in a timely manner, of any wildland fire in their jurisdiction that may require a cost share agreement. The DIVISION will assume an active role in the development of the cost share agreement and must ratify the agreement in order for any expenses incurred through the agreement to qualify under the WFPP.

Because the Parties may maintain separate legal and functional authority and responsibility related to a State Responsibility Fire, responsibility for tasks beyond fire suppression may be included or excluded from the agreements described above upon agreement of the Parties. Both Parties agree that all incident-related activities, including non-suppression activities, shall, at a minimum, be communicated to the incident commander and to other coordinating entities. No Party shall delay suppression efforts while deciding jurisdictional responsibilities for fires in Agreement for Cooperative Wildfire Protection Page 10 of 18 which suppression is the appropriate management response.
Cost Share Agreements. A Cost Share Agreement will be prepared by the responsible unit administrator(s) or their authorized representatives, except under the conditions of reciprocal fire protection or independent action, when there is (1) a multi-jurisdictional incident or (2) an incident which threatens or xxxxx across direct protection boundaries of the State and Federal Agencies. See Exhibit G for a sample Cost Share Agreement. The Agencies agree that all reasonable and necessary costs incurred to meet the protection responsibilities within each Agency’s Direct Protection Area will be the responsibility of that Agency. This approach can be superseded by an incident specific Cost Share Agreement based on some other mutually agreed to equitable basis. For temporary support functions or facilities established during periods of extraordinary fire activity, similar cost sharing procedures may be used by the involved Agencies. Agency Administrators are responsible for the development and approval of Cost Share Agreements.
