Election of chairman and deputy chairman. (1) The members of the RRC Council are to elect a chairman and a deputy chairman - (a) at the first meeting of the RRC Council following the day on which biennial ordinary elections to elect councillors to the Participants are held; or (b) if those biennial ordinary elections are held on more than one day then at the first meeting of the RRC Council following the latest of those days. (2) If the office of chairman or deputy chairman becomes vacant then the members of the RRC Council are to elect a new chairman or deputy chairman, as the case requires. (3) The election of the chairman and deputy chairman is to be conducted by the CEO in accordance with the procedure prescribed under the Act for the election of a mayor and a deputy mayor, respectively, by a council.

Election of chairman and deputy chairman. (1) The members of the MRC Council shall elect a chairman and a deputy chairman: (a) at the first meeting of the MRC Council following the Operative Date; (b) at the first meeting of the MRC Council following the first Saturday: (i) in May following the Operative Date; and (ii) in May every 2 years thereafter. (2) If the office of chairman or deputy chairman becomes vacant then the members of the MRC Council shall elect a new chairman or deputy chairman, as the case requires. (3) The election referred to in subclause (2) shall take place at a meeting held at least 4 weeks after the date on which the office became vacant.
