Equivalency. To the extent that it is possible, elementary preparation time will be provided in daily blocks equivalent to a high school period. In no case will an elementary preparation period be less than thirty (30) minutes. When the District is unable to provide full-time elementary employees with preparation time equivalent to one high school period per day, total elementary preparation time for a full week will equal the sum of the minutes in five high school preparation periods.

Equivalency. Whenever possible, an equivalency to an academic credential shall be developed based on a combination of experience and education for purposes of the job posting article. The equivalency statement so developed shall be included in the job vacancy announcement.
Equivalency. In initial placements an equivalency may be established in lieu of a formal diploma or degree, (Article 11.4.1.5). Equivalency. For the purpose of disclosure pursuant to the Interest Act (Canada), the yearly rate of interest to which any rate of interest payable under this Agreement, which is to be calculated on any basis other than a full calendar year, is equivalent, may be determined by multiplying such rate by a fraction, the numerator of which is the actual number of days in the relevant calendar year of calculation and the denominator of which is the number of days of such other basis.

If an applicant does not agree with the results of his/her equivalency request, an appeal may be submitted to the Equivalency Oversight Committee using the Equivalency Appeal Request Form (Appendix D). This appeal is reviewed based on adhearance to equivalency process and procedures only. If the evaluation adheres to the guidelines for equivalency, the Discipline-Based Minimum Qualifications/Equivalency Committee’s (MQ/EQ Committee) decision will stand. If the evaluation deviates from the guidelines for equivalency, the MQ/EQ Committee will be asked to re-evaluate the request, using the correct procedures. The applicant will be notified with the EqOC Appeal Determination Form (Appendix E).
