FUNERAL EXPENSES. 53.1 In the event an officer is killed in the line of duty, or dies from injuries sustained in the line of duty, the City shall pay the sum of twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) toward funeral and connected expenses to the officer’s surviving spouse (or, if none, to the officer’s heirs), regardless of amounts paid from other sources.
