Common use of GROWTH LEAVE Clause in Contracts

GROWTH LEAVE. 19 1. Purpose A growth leave shall be designed to enhance personal 20 and/or professional growth through such specific activities as study, travel, 21 independent project or other disciplined pursuit. A written report 22 summarizing such activities and their impact upon one's personal and/or 23 professional growth must be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent, 24 Educational Services, upon return from such leave. 25 2. Eligibility Permanent unit members employed by Oxnard School 26 District for at least seven (7) consecutive years preceding leave with the last 27 three evaluations being satisfactory or above. A unit member who has been 28 granted a leave cannot reapply for another seven (7) years. No more than 29 three (3%) percent of unit members will be granted such leave in any one 30 year. 31 3. Approval Approval of leave is discretionary with the governing board; 32 the unit member's application must indicate the program the unit member 33 will engage in to benefit the District and/or teacher professionally. 34 4. Compensation The unit member on leave will be paid the difference 35 between his/her annual salary and the salary at Class C, Step 5. The unit 36 member may continue fringe benefit coverage at his/her own expense. The 37 unit member must post a bond to assure service of at least one year 1 following return from the leave. The amount of the bond shall equal the 2 difference between the unit member's salary and Class C, Step 5 salary.
