Hospitalized During Vacation. 21:13 An employee who is hospitalized during his/her vacation period will be allowed to draw sick leave with pay for the period of time for which he/she is hospitalized in accordance with Article 21:02 providing that the employee furnishes proof of such hospitalization to his/her supervisor. The employee will be allowed to reschedule that portion of vacation during which he/she was hospitalized at a later date mutually agreeable to the employee and the employee’s supervisor.
Hospitalized During Vacation. 24.12 An employee who is hospitalized or confined by order of a doctor during theirvacation period will be allowed to draw sick leave with pay for the period of time for which they are hospitalized or confined providing that the employee furnishes proof of such hospitalization or confinement to theirsupervisor. The employee will be allowed to reschedule that portion of vacation during which they were hospitalized or confined at a later date mutually agreeable to the employee and their supervisor. If the employee’s spouse or immediate family member becomes hospitalized or comes under a doctor’s care during the employee’s vacation, the employee may request an interruption of vacation and return to work.

Any Employee who is hospitalized or undergoes outpatient surgery during his/her regularly scheduled vacation, shall, upon physician certification, have the right to request rescheduling of that portion of his/her vacation lost as a result of outpatient surgery or hospitalization. Vacation shall be rescheduled under the direction of the department head in cooperation with the Employee.

If an employee hired before July 1, 2016 is hospitalized during his vacation period and presents a physician's statement specifying the hospitalization date(s), the time involved in the hospital may be charged to the employee's accumulated sick leave and not to vacation.

If an employee is hospitalized as an in-patient during a vacation period and presents a physician's statement specifying the hospitalization dates, the time involved in the hospital may be charged to the employee's paid personal leave and not to vacation leave. If the employee receives a benefit under Section 14.12 for that period of hospitalization, they will not be charged either vacation of paid personal leave except for the purpose of supplementation under Section 14.12.

Hospitalized During Vacation. When an employee on a scheduled period of vacation is hospitalized for one week or more of such vacation as a result of serious illness or accident, such employee shall be entitled to claim leave-for-illness in lieu of vacation for such days of illness provided that written notice is given to the Chief Executive Officer, or her designate, at the commencement of illness and subsequent hospital verification and a Doctor's certificate verifying the length of illness is provided on the employee's return to work. Any vacation entitlement remaining shall be rescheduled to be taken prior to the end of the vacation year, subject to operational requirements and the approval of the Branch Manager.
