Hour Care. A 24 hour care shift is where an employee is required to be available for duty at a client’s residence for a 24 hour period. During this period the employee is required to provide the client with the services specified in the care plan. The employee is required to provide a total of no more than 8 hours of care during this period. For the purposes of this section the client’s residence can be a residence that is made available to the client by Anglicare WA or some other body for a period of time. The employee will normally have the opportunity to sleep during a 24 hour care shift and a bed in a private room will be provided to the employee for these purposes. The employee engaged will be paid for 8 hours work at 155% of their appropriate rate for each 24 hour period. This rate will be in substitution for and not cumulative upon weekend or public holiday penalties. Employees providing 24 hour care under this clause are not entitled to payment of a sleepover allowance.
