Limited-English Proficient Workers. English is the language of the workplace. The Employer recognizes the right of employees to use the language of their choice when speaking amongst themselves during work hours provided that such conversations are conducted in a manner that is respectful of residents, patients, families, and other employees and is consistent with quality care. Upon request of the employee, the Employer will allow the presence of another member of its staff, where such staff is available, to act as an interpreter for employees not fluent in English during any investigation interview that may lead to discipline or discharge. Where the Employer is unable to so provide an interpreter, the Union may provide an interpreter.

Limited-English Proficient Workers. While English is the language of the workplace, employees may use the language of their choice among themselves. Employees not proficient in English shall be provided, when relevant, discipline and discharge documents and proceedings in a language they are proficient in. Upon request the Center will provide employees with non- proficient English courses in English as a second language, or the funds necessary to take such courses.
