Limited-English Proficient Workers. English is the language of the workplace. The Employer recognizes the right of employees to use the language of their choice when speaking amongst themselves during work hours provided that such conversations are conducted in a manner that is respectful of residents, patients, families, and other employees and is consistent with quality care. Upon request of the employee, the Employer will allow the presence of another member of its staff, where such staff is available, to act as an interpreter for employees not fluent in English during any investigation interview that may lead to discipline or discharge. Where the Employer is unable to so provide an interpreter, the Union may provide an interpreter.
