Common use of LUNCH PERIOD 16 Clause in Contracts

LUNCH PERIOD 16. 01 a) The Company agrees to allow an employee who is engaged in shift work and who works a scheduled shift of eight (8) consecutive hours, a thirty (30) minute paid meal period during this regular shift, providing such an employee remains on duty during the paid meal period. b) The steady day worker(s) shall be allowed one-half (1/2) hour unpaid lunch period. c) The Company will endeavour to allocate the meal period four (4) hours after the commencement of the employee’s starting time. However, except in the event of an emergency such employees shall have their meal not later than five (5) hours from their scheduled starting time. d) The Company will provide a meal or a maximum of six dollars and fifty cents ($6.50) for an employee who works in excess of two (2) hours when such overtime is in continuity with the completion of his eight (8) hour work period, and a similar paid meal allowance and period for an employee who works an additional four (4) hours overtime thereafter.
