Lunch Periods and Rest Breaks. Members of the bargaining unit shall receive two (2) fifteen (15) minute paid rest breaks and a lunch break during each scheduled workday subject to the provisions of (3)(a)(1) and (3)(a)(2). The Employer and the employee both recognize that due to the demands and responsibilities of the assignment, it is not always possible to take the rest breaks and lunch period at a convenient or set time. However, members are encouraged to take their rest breaks and lunch periods when possible. Employees will take their rest breaks and paid lunch periods in the employees' assigned work area (patrol area, jail building, etc.). Rest breaks and lunch periods not taken will not accumulate. Employees assigned to a 5 - 2 schedule (Monday through Friday) may combine their two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest breaks. Such combined rest breaks as well as the one hour unpaid lunch may be taken away from the employee's assigned work area.

Lunch Periods and Rest Breaks. 1. The District shall establish an unpaid and duty free lunch period of not less than one-half hour for each bargaining unit employee working five or more consecutive hours per day. 2. The District will provide one paid and duty free 15-minute rest break for each bargaining unit employee for each four-hour consecutive period worked at times scheduled by the immediate supervisor, but not during the first or last hour of the employee's daily work schedule. 3. Dinner periods and rest breaks for evening and early morning shift employees shall be established whenever possible within the provisions for day-shift employees. 4. Child Development Providers or Pre-School Teachers working more than six hours shall receive a paid 30-minute lunch period as a part of their work day. 5. Lunch periods and rest breaks shall not be taken to decrease an employee's daily work schedule. 6. Unit members may not leave the work site where employed during the rest period unless authorized by the Site Administrator or Department Head. 7. Rest periods are not cumulative and shall not be used to extend the lunch period or another rest period or to shorten the workday. 8. Supervisors/Administrators shall ensure that unit members take their duty-free rest breaks and/or lunch periods.

  • MEAL PERIODS AND REST BREAKS 4.1 Except when required for urgent or emergency work and except as provided in 4.2 no employee shall be required to work for more than five hours continuously without being allowed a meal break of not less than half an hour. 4.2 An employee unable to be relieved from work for a meal break shall be allowed to have a meal on duty and this period shall be regarded as working time. 4.3 Except where provided for in 4.2 an employee unable to take a meal after five hours’ duty shall be paid at overtime rates from the expiry of five hours until the time when a meal can be taken. 4.4 During the meal break or rest breaks prescribed above, free tea, coffee, milk and sugar shall be supplied by the employer. Where it is impractical to supply tea, coffee, milk and sugar free of charge, an allowance of $1.48 per week in lieu shall be paid. This allowance shall continue during all periods of leave except leave without pay. 4.5 Rest breaks of 10 minutes each for morning tea, afternoon tea or supper, where these occur during duty, shall be allowed as time worked.

  • Lunch Period Employees who work five (5) hours or more shall be granted a thirty (30) minute, duty-free, uninterrupted lunch period, which may or may not be during the normal lunch hours.

  • Lunch Periods All employees covered by this Agreement shall be entitled to an uninterrupted, duty-free lunch period after the employee has been on duty for five (5) hours. The length of time for such lunch period shall be for no less than one-half (½) hour, and shall be scheduled for full-time employees at about the midpoint of each work shift. Such times shall be mutually agreed upon between employees and their immediate supervisor.

The parties agree to comply with ODE regulations.

  • Meal Breaks and Rest Periods On completion of not less than three hours work after commencement time or on completion of not less than two hours work after the meal break weekly Employees will become entitled to a rest period of ten minutes duration.   • Meal and Rest Breaks (a) The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to organize the work assignment on a shift in such a way as to allow each Nurse to have designated meal and rest break(s) at regular intervals during the shifts. (b) The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to ensure that no Nurse will work longer than five (5) consecutive hours without a break, unless mutually agreed between the Nurse and the Employer. (c) Nurses shall be permitted to combine meal and/or rest break(s) where operationally possible. (e) Where operational requirements prevent a Nurse from having an uninterrupted meal or rest break(s) and it is not possible to reschedule the missed break(s) or a portion of the break(s) during the remainder of the shift, the Nurse shall be compensated for the portion of the missed meal period or rest period, at a rate of one and one-half times (1.5x) the Nurse’s hourly rate for the period of the rest and meal break(s) missed.

  • Lunch Breaks The lunch break will consist of a one-half hour (or one hour where scheduled) unpaid break taken mid-way during regular work day. In the event that an employee is required to work during his regular lunch period he shall be allowed a one-half hour lunch period between the hours of ll:30 a.m. and l:00 p.m., otherwise he shall be paid double time for working through said lunch period.

  • Rest Breaks Employees shall receive a fifteen (15) minute break during each four (4) hours worked. It is the Employer's intention to provide uninterrupted rest breaks.

  • Lunch Break Each Teacher shall receive each day an uninterrupted and continuous period of not less than forty (40) minutes for lunch, free from supervisory, teaching or other assigned duties (reference: Regulation 298.s. 3, Daily Sessions).

  • Rest Break (a) An employee working overtime must be allowed a rest break of 20 minutes without deduction of pay after each four hours of overtime worked if the employee is to continue work after the rest break. (b) Where a day worker is required to work overtime on a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday or on a rostered day off, the first rest break will be paid at the employee's ordinary rate of pay.
