Overtime; Shift Work Clause Samples
The "Overtime; Shift Work" clause defines the rules and conditions under which employees may be required to work hours beyond their standard schedule or outside of regular daytime shifts. It typically outlines how overtime is authorized, how additional compensation is calculated, and the scheduling of non-traditional work hours such as evenings, nights, or weekends. For example, it may specify that overtime must be pre-approved by a supervisor and that employees working night shifts receive a premium pay rate. The core function of this clause is to ensure fair compensation for extra or irregular work hours and to provide clear guidelines for both employers and employees regarding extended or atypical work schedules.
