Common use of Parenting or Adoption Leave Clause in Contracts

Parenting or Adoption Leave. A Parenting or Adoption leave of absence shall be granted to a natural or adoptive parent who requests such leave in conjunction with the birth or adoption of a child. The leave shall commence on the date requested by the nurse and shall continue up to six (6) months. However, such leave may be extended up to a maximum of one (1) year by mutual consent between the nurse and the Appointing Authority. Parenting leave shall not be considered the same as disability leave, and it shall continue up to six (6) consecutive months, and shall be reduced by any paid or unpaid leave of absence.
