Participant Support Costs. A. Participant support costs are direct costs for items such as stipends or subsistence allowances, travel allowances and registration fees paid to or on behalf of participants or trainees (but not employees) in connection with meetings, conferences, symposia or training projects. (See also NSF Award and Administration Guide (AAG) Chapter V.C.5.) Subrecipient organizations must account for participant support costs separately. Note: No indirect costs normally may be charged against participant support costs. (See AAG Chapter V.D.1b.) B. Funds provided for participant support may not be used bySubrecipient for other categories of expense without the specific prior written approval of the NRAO.
