Participation in Association Activities. Since the American Association of University Professors has historically been a professional organization, professional participation in Association activities shall be credited as University service in the same manner that other professional service is credited. All members of the bargaining unit shall be permitted to attend regularly- scheduled meetings of the Association, or meetings of appropriate committees of the Association, without penalty, provided that such attendance does not interfere with the discharge of their University responsibilities.

The Hospital and the Association recognize the right of any nurse to become and remain a member of the Association or to refrain from becoming and/or remaining a member of the Association, and neither party will interfere with any nurse in the exercise of that right.
