Payment for Lost or Stolen Tools. Par. 1. The Company agrees that they should make every effort to provide a reasonably safe place for tools and likewise the employee shall make every effort to protect not only his own tools but also to protect the Company tools. The Company and the local union agree to jointly reimburse Elevator Constructor Mechanics, Elevator Constructor Helpers, Elevator Constructor Apprentices and Elevator Constructor Assistant Mechanics for tools lost on the job or stolen while in transit or stolen from any vehicle being used by the employee on the following basis: a) Up to a maximum claim of $200, the Company will pay 75% and the local union will pay 25%. b) On claims of more than $200, the local union will pay $50 with the remainder, up to a maximum of $900, paid by the Company. Alternatively, the Company may elect to list those tools which its employees are required to utilize. In that event the Company shall not be required to reimburse its employees for other than those tools it shall require. Actual receipts for replacement tools must be submitted, in either case, to the local union and the Company by the Employee claiming the loss before reimbursement can be authorized. The local union and the Company reserve the right to inspect replacement tools.
