Common use of Policy/Group Grievance Clause in Contracts

Policy/Group Grievance. When the grievance has a general application or will affect more than one (1) employee, a policy/group grievance may be filed by either party. The policy/group grievance must be filed in writing within fourteen (14) calendar days after the first knowledge of grounds for a grievance. Such grievance shall identify the classification and/or Department, the specific nature of the complaint, the Article(s) of the Collective Agreement in dispute, and the remedy sought. The Director of Human Resources or designate and the Union Representative or designate shall meet within ten (10) calendar days of the receipt of the grievance. The party receiving the grievance shall reply to the grievance in writing within fourteen (14) calendar days. If it is not settled at this stage, the grievance may be advanced to arbitration/mediation as provided in clause 16.4.
