Common use of Proceeding to the Next Step Clause in Contracts

Proceeding to the Next Step. (1) The failure of the department head or hearing officer at any step to communicate his/her decision within the designated time limits shall permit the grievant to proceed to the next step of the grievance procedure. (2) The failure of the grievant to appeal a decision to the next higher step within the designated time limits, as detailed below, shall constitute a withdrawal of the grievance, and shall bar further action.
