Promotion to Lieutenant. The position shall be awarded to the most senior individual 176 who has achieved: a) a rating of “satisfactory” or above on their most recent 177 performance evaluation, and b) a passing score of 70% or above on the Wisconsin 178 Certified Fire Officer I exam, and c) a rating of “satisfactory” or above in the 179 “assumption of duties” category of their last performance review, and d) has Wisconsin 180 EMT certification. The written examination will be waived if a candidate has worked at 181 least 1000 hours as a Lieutenant from January 1, 1989 until the date of the posting. Out 182 of grade work shall be documented by the officer in charge of the house at which the 183 work was performed.
Promotion to Lieutenant. Base salary compensation for employees promoting to Lieutenant shall be established at the applicable salary step that will result in a one-step increase of approximately 5% or the first step of the salary range, whichever is greater, when compared to the employee’s rate of pay including longevity pay and educational incentive pay and excluding any and all other additional salary compensation prior to the promotional appointment.
Promotion to Lieutenant. A. Promotions shall be made through determination of qualifications, utilizing a merit system procedure;
Promotion to Lieutenant. Promotion to the rank of Lieutenant shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Fire Department Promotions Act (Public Act 093-0411, 50 ILCS 742). The VILLAGE's Board of Fire and Police Commissioners shall retain authority to administer the promotional process of fire fighters for the rank of Lieutenant, and nothing in this Agreement shall be construed to limit or abrogate such authority of the Board, except that the exercise of such authority shall be strictly consistent with the requirements of this section and other provisions of the Act and the terms of this Agreement.
Promotion to Lieutenant. Section 1. Promotions in the Department shall be made by the Fire Chief with approval of the City Manager from within the Department.
Section 2. To be eligible to participate in the Lieutenant's eligibility examination, the employee must:
a. Have 5 years uninterrupted service with the Department. Also be a current driver and/or Firefighter First Class have passed the Driver/Engineer promotion test, and meet the promotional requirements of Driver/Engineer except for the exam, and
b. Have successfully completed two 40 hour classes related to the fire service by a credited institution, or two 3 credit hour classes that are required for an Associate’s Degree or higher in Fire Science or Fire Service Management within the 24 months prior to the Lieutenant’s examination, or have an Associate’s Degree or higher in Fire Science or Fire Service Management,
c. Be certified as a Fire Officer 1 or obtain Fire Officer 1 during probationary period, and
d. Within the immediately preceding twelve (12) month period, have logged and maintained at least two hundred forty (240) hours of creditable training.
Section 3. All employees eligible for consideration for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant shall participate in the below-described promotional exams administered by the City, and promotion shall be made according to the below-described procedure with weights being assigned as indicated:
a. Written Examination - 55%
1. Latest edition of the Company Officer course material the Florida State Fire College has adopted
2. Latest edition of the Fire Cause and Determination course material the Florida State Fire College has adopted
3. Latest edition of the Pumping Apparatus course material the Florida State Fire College has adopted
4. Latest edition of the Essentials course material the Florida State Fire College has adopted) The City shall furnish copies of the above-referenced material at the candidate’s request.
b. Oral Examination - 45%
Promotion to Lieutenant. (a) When there is a vacancy for a Lieutenant, promotion will be via the seniority number within the eligibility pool, having met the requirements of 2.3(b) above.
Promotion to Lieutenant. 1) In the event of promotion from Firefighter to the rank of Lieutenant, the Employee will go to Step F of the Lieutenant’s scale. This becomes the Employee’s anniversary of promotion date.

Eligibility for Promotion: Must have five years of service to be eligible for promotion A permanent firefighter who has completed the probationary period on the Weston Fire Department as of the date of the exam must file an application to take an exam at least thirty (30) days prior to the exam.
Promotion to Lieutenant. In the event that there is a vacancy which the City intends to fill in the Lieutenant classification, the City agrees to use the process set forth in Section 8.9, provided however, that the fmal selection of the candidate shall be at the sole discretion of the City, upon the recommendation of the Police Chief.
