Reduction Procedures. If the bargaining unit member(s) is/are removed or dismissed as a result of a decision by the employer to decrease the number of bargaining unit employees or to discontinue a particular type of bargaining unit service, written notice shall be given to the employee(s) by registered mail at least sixty (60) days before the end of the school year, together with a statement of honorable dismissal and the reasons therefore. Employees hired after January 1, 1998, shall be entitled to written notice of reduction in force by either certified mail, return receipt requested, or personal delivery, with receipt at least thirty (30) days before the employee is removed or dismissed. The employee(s) with the shorter length of seniority within his/her respective classification (as defined in subparagraph A, above) shall be dismissed first provided, however, that for purposes of implementing this provision an employee's seniority rights shall be those earned in the classification of position held at the time the reduction-in-force occurs.
