Common use of REFRESHMENT AND LUNCH BREAK Clause in Contracts

REFRESHMENT AND LUNCH BREAK. 14.01 An employee will be allowed a refreshment break of fifteen (15) minutes during the hours of work on each half of his designated working shift without loss of pay. 14.02 Regular day shift employees shall be allowed one-half (1/2) hour lunch break near the mid-point of the shift. It is understood that no employee be required to work more than five (5) consecutive hours with- out a lunch break. Where an employee is required to work through his lunch break, he will be paid at the applicable overtime rate for the lunch period and will be allowed a one-half (1/2) hour later to eat his lunch. 14.03 Each employee shall be allowed a further fifteen (15) minute break to be taken prior to the start of any overtime work provided the anticipated overtime will be of two (2) hours' duration or more. 14.04 Employees will be allowed sufficient paid time on each shift to wash up and put away tools and equipment.
