Reimbursement/Reinstatement of Unused Sick Leave. A. Employees leaving the municipal service shall forfeit all accumulated sick leave unless: a. Upon retirement under the Public Employees Retirement System, qualifying individual applies unused sick leave as provided under Section 20862.8 and 20965 of the Government Code. b. The individual is re-hired by the City of Hanford within one year from the date of separation. Previously accrued and unused paid sick days shall be reinstated and the employee shall be entitled to use those previously accrued and unused paid sick days immediately and will accrue additional paid sick hours in accordance to the section above. c. The employee resumes employment with the City upon release from active military duty, temporary military leave or other approved leave of absence.
