Relief Charge Nurse. A Nurse who has been trained to assume the duties of Charge Nurse, and is assigned by the Medical Center on a temporary basis to the position of Charge Nurse when no supervisor or Charge Nurse is performing that role. Any nurse who is trained to a relief charge nurse position must have a minimum of nine (9) months experience, unless the nurse signs a written consent to train as a charge nurse earlier.
Relief Charge Nurse. A nurse who is assigned by the Medical Center to assist and coordinate in the continuity of patient care responsibilities and clinical activities of an organized nursing unit, including providing patient care. The Medical Center will identify nurses who are willing to voluntarily assume the role of relief charge nurse on an on-going basis. The parties acknowledge, however, that there may be unusual and infrequent situations when the Medical Center will assign such duties to other nurses.
Relief Charge Nurse. Nurses who are assigned duties routinely performed by 17 charge nurses, or who are assigned duties routinely performed by managers or 18 supervisors, shall be deemed to be performing the duties of a relief charge nurse. 19 The selection of nurses to perform relief charge nurse assignments shall be in 20 the sole discretion of management. Such assignment shall require the consent 21 of the nurse, unless there is no other qualified available nurse.
Relief Charge Nurse. An RN from a unit and shift designated to perform unit functions normally performed by the unit's Designated Charge Nurse, in the following circumstances: 4.6.1 A relief charge nurse will be designated when the unit's Designated Charge Nurse is not present on the unit as normally scheduled, provided it is anticipated that the absence, excluding meal and rest periods, will be for at least a total of four hours of the shift. 4.6.2 A relief charge nurse may be designated when the unit's Designated Charge Nurse is not present on the unit for less than the period specified in 4.5.1, at such times as the Team Leader deems appropriate. 4.6.3 Filling a relief charge nurse position does not constitute filling a job vacancy under this Agreement.
