Common use of Rental Contract charges Clause in Contracts

Rental Contract charges. After Rental Vehicle pick up, a change in drop off location, date of return, or apparent abandonment including but not limited to returning the Rental Vehicle at a time other than the business hours of Lessor may require additional charges at Lessor’s sole discretion. Renter and Lessor acknowledge that it would be impractical and extremely difficult to estimate the actual damages which Lessor may suffer as a result of return of the Rental Vehicle other than as agreed in the Rental Contract and therefore Renter and Lessor agree the Renter shall also pay a sum of $1000 over and above the charges and fees as a reasonable estimate of the amount of damages likely to be suffered as a consequence of an unauthorized afterhours return in addition, should Renter abandon the vehicle, Renter and Lessor acknowledge that it would be impractical and extremely difficult to estimate the actual damages which Lessor may suffer as a result of such abandonment, and therefore Renter and Lessor agree that the Renter shall also pay $5000 as a reasonable estimate of damages likely to be suffered by Lessor as a result of abandonment and such
