Rest Periods/Meal Breaks. 8.6.1 Employees other than shiftworkers are entitled the below rest periods in accordance with the hours worked in a day: Hours Worked Breaks More than 3 but not more than 8 ordinary hours One 10-minute paid rest break – to be taken at a time determined by the Employer More than 8 ordinary hours Two 10-minute paid rest breaks – to be taken at time determined by the Employer More than 4 hours overtime on a Saturday morning One 10-minute paid rest break 8.6.2 In addition to the above, an Employee who works more than 5 hours at a time is entitled to an unpaid meal break of not less than 30 minutes or more than 60 minutes, to be taken within each block of 5 hours. 8.6.3 The Employer must pay an Employee who is required to work through their meal break 200% of the minimum hourly rate from when the meal break would have commenced until a meal break is allowed.
