Rights Conferred by a Trademark. A registered trademark shall confer on the proprietor exclusive rights therein. The proprietor shall be entitled to prevent all third parties not having his consent from using in the course of trade: (a) any sign which is identical with the trademark in relation to goods or services which are identical to those for which the trademark is registered; and (b) any sign which is identical or similar to the trademark in relation to goods or services which are identical or similar to those for which the trademark is registered, where such use would result in a likelihood of confusion on the part of the public, including the likelihood of association between the sign and the trademark.
