Secondary Student Contacts. a. Unit members in the following grade assignments shall receive $1.50 4% of the hourly rate per student per day for each student contact greater than the number listed (based upon a five-period assignment) per quarter or semester (as applicable). i) Secondary (grades 6-8) whose total daily student contacts exceeds 150 students. ii) Secondary (grades 9-12) whose total daily student contacts exceeds 165 students. iii) Grades 6-8 physical education classes whose total daily student contact exceeds 200 students. iv) Grades 9-12 physical education classes whose total daily student contact exceeds 250 students. b. This Side letter shall not apply to teachers assigned to ESL, ROP, work experience, special education, speech, continuation high school and alternative education programs, nor does it apply to reading specialists, librarians or any other member of the bargaining unit who does not provide direct instruction to students. c. The calculation of student contacts shall: i) not include traditionally larger classes, such as Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Physical Education, Drama and Leadership nor shall it include teacher’s aides.
