Section 1(a). As a condition of employment, employees using a private automobile while engaged in City business, or those employees operating a City vehicle in the course of their employment, shall be subject to annual motor vehicle background checks and shall maintain valid operating licenses at all times. Said employees shall execute all required authorizations necessary for the City to conduct such motor vehicle background checks.

Section 1(a). Employees must submit requests to attend out-of-district workshops, seminars or conferences on the form prescribed by Human Resources. When an employee’s request for permission to attend a workshop, seminar or conference is approved in writing in advance by the Superintendent or his/her designee from central office, or when an employee is requested to attend a regional meeting, workshop, seminar, conference, or other professional educational activity, the total expenses of the employee shall be paid by the Board, provided the Superintendent or his/her designee from central office has placed a predetermined ceiling on the amount of such expense. If the employee uses his/her own automobile, the rate of reimbursement for travel shall be at the IRS rate per mile and the employee shall be required to maintain the same level of insurance as set forth in Article 30, Section 2 of this Agreement.
