Common use of SEPARATE ACCOUNT FOR VARIABLE INVESTMENT Clause in Contracts

SEPARATE ACCOUNT FOR VARIABLE INVESTMENT. OPTIONS A Separate Account may be subdivided into Variable Investment Options. The assets of a Separate Account are our property. The portion of such assets equal to the reserves and other contract liabilities will not be chargeable with liabilities which arise out of any other business we conduct. We may transfer assets of a Separate Account in excess of the reserves and other liabilities with respect to such Account to another Separate Account or to our general account. We may, at our discretion, invest Separate Account assets in any investment permitted by applicable law. We may rely conclusively on the opinion of counsel (including counsel in our employ) as to what investments we may make as law permits.
