Shift Exchanging. A. An employee may be permitted to exchange shifts with other employees in the same classification or level provided: 1. The employee makes a written request to his/her shift supervisor(s) at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the exchange; 2. The shift supervisor(s) approves the exchange; and 3. The employees exchanging shifts shall not be entitled to any additional compensation (e.g., overtime, holiday pay, shift differential) that they would not have otherwise received. B. Once approved, the shift exchange becomes a regular work assignment for the period of the exchange. C. Once approved, shift exchanges shall not be subject to further review, except to cover operational needs. If a shift exchange is denied, the shift supervisor denying the exchange shall state the reason for the denial on the written request.
