Common use of Sick Leave and Probation Clause in Contracts

Sick Leave and Probation. A newly hired Regular Employee shall be on probation for a period of four hundred and ninety-five (495) regular scheduled hours of work. During the probationary period, there shall be no entitlement to paid sick leave. After the first four hundred and ninety-five (495) regular scheduled hours of work an accumulation of 34.27 hours sick time will be credited to that Employee. During the probation period the Employee will be entitled to all rights and benefits of this Agreement except for the fact that during the probationary period the Employer shall have the right to discipline or dismiss any Employee who, in the opinion of the Employer, is unsatisfactory. Any such discipline or dismissal shall not be subject to grievance or arbitration.
