SUMMER WORK ASSIGNMENT. A. When work normally and customarily performed by bargaining unit employees is required to be performed at times other than during the regular academic year, the work shall be assigned to employees by seniority serving in the appropriate classification(s). B. When it is necessary to assign employees not regularly so assigned to serve during a summer work period, the assignment shall be made on the basis of qualifications for employment in the classification of service required. In no event shall the employee be required to accept such assignment. C. An employee who accepts a summer work assignment, and who works in a lower classification during the summer, shall receive the lower rate of pay for the classification he/she is working. An employee who works in a higher classification shall receive the higher rate of pay for the classification in which he/she is working.
