Temporary Promotion. (a) Definition: The movement of an employee from one position to another in a higher salary grade, (other than by reclassification), for a period of time after which the employee is to be returned to the position and pay rate held prior to the promotion (allowing for step increases earned through accrual of classification service during the promotion).
