University Liability. The University is not responsible for any damage or injury to the Student or any other individual or property in University Housing beyond its control. The Student agrees that the University is not responsible for any damage or injury from any act of another resident or any other person. The Student agrees that the University is not responsible or liable to the Student for any personal property that is lost, stolen, or missing from University Housing. The Student shall be responsible for having adequate and appropriate insurance (i.e., homeowners supplemental insurance and/or renter’s insurance) to protect against any loss or damage to the Student’s personal property, University property and/or University Housing (e.g. fire caused by student).
University Liability. Although precautions are taken to maintain adequate security, the University assumes no responsibility for injury to persons, or loss of or damage to items of personal property that occurs in its buildings, on its grounds, prior to, during, or subsequent to the terms of this contract. Students (and their parents or guardians) are strongly encouraged to purchase and maintain appropriate insurance to cover such losses.
University Liability. The University does not assume responsibility for the loss, damage, or destruction of any personal property kept in the licensed space or on housing property. Licensee releases and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the University from and against any and all claims, demands and/or causes of action related to any accident, casualty or event that may occur on housing property involving Licensee and/or any guest or invitee of Licensee.
University Liability a. The University assumes no legal obligation to pay for injury to persons, or the loss of or damage to any personal property. Students (and their parents or guardians) are strongly encouraged to purchase and maintain appropriate renter's insurance.
University Liability. Although security precautions are taken, VSU does not assume any liability and/or legal obligation to pay for injury to person (including death) or loss or damage to items of personal property which occurs in its buildings or on its grounds prior to, during, or subsequent to the period of this contract. Residents or their parents are encouraged to carry appropriate insurance to cover such losses. VSU requires that all residence hall residents pay the student health fees.
University Liability. Resident will use good, safe judgment while using Housing & Residence Life equipment and facilities. The University assumes no liability for injuries, loss, or damage, including death, due to Resident’s use of Housing & Residence Life including, but not limited to, kitchens, recreational equipment, elevators, etc. In extreme circumstances, including but not limited to, "Acts of Nature", e.g. flood, earthquake, and unusual weather conditions that render the assigned space uninhabitable, the University shall not be held responsible or liable for Resident’s accommodation. In situations such as this, the University reserves the right to make special room assignments or other occupancy arrangements to accommodate those conditions, but the University shall not be obligated to do so.
University Liability. The University of Waterloo is not liable, directly or indirectly, for any loss of theft of personal property, or for damage or destruction of such property by fire, water, or other causes. As with any public area, all residents are responsible for obtaining personal property/content insurance. The University of Waterloo and its governors, agents, employees, directors, trustees, officers and members shall not be liable for, and assume no responsibility whatsoever for injury to the Student or guests which occurs in the Student’s assigned room or any other part of the residence as a result of the conduct of the Student, guests, or other students and their guests or otherwise, including, without limiting the generality of the foregoing, injuries arising from engaging, participating in, attending or watching a dangerous, careless or reckless activity or fights, contests, games, parties or sporting activities, or from assault, impairment, intoxication, consumption of alcohol, drugs, or harmful or banned substances, or as a result of delivery of alcohol to the residence, whether or not such delivery is permitted by or known to the University of Waterloo, or due to unauthorized entry into cafeteria kitchens or into any other areas of the residence that are not part of the living space in the residence, or arising from damage to or the unauthorized alteration, removal or disabling of any part of the residence, including its windows, doors, locks, railings, or safety or alarm devices, features and fixtures. The Student releases the University of Waterloo and its governors, agents, employees, directors, trustees, officers and members from any and all actions, claims or proceedings in connection therewith. The University of Waterloo shall not be liable for the failure to provide accommodation in a room in residence which is contracted for herein when such failure is caused by fire, explosion, water, Acts of God, civil disobedience or disturbances, strikes or other labour interruptions, vandalism, war, riot, sabotage, pandemic or epidemic, failure of public utility services, governmental action or rules, or any other situations which are beyond the reasonable control of the University of Waterloo (collectively referred to herein as "Emergency" or "Emergencies"). University Liability. As a state agency, the University is self-insured under the Commonwealth of Virginia Risk Management Plan. This insurance does not cover the operation of Agency vehicles. To the extent provided by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, University shall be responsible for the ordinary negligent acts or omissions of its agents and employees causing injury to another person. Nothing herein shall be deemed a waiver of the sovereign immunity of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
University Liability. The university does not insure the personal property of any resident on or off campus. The university has no responsibility for any theft, damage, destruction, loss, etc., of any personal property, including, but not limited to, money, valuables, equipment or any personal property whatsoever belonging to or in the custody of the resident, whether caused by intentional or negligent act or failure to act or natural causes, fire or other casualty. The university is not liable for the failure or interruption of utilities or for conditions resulting from failure or interruption of the same.

The University does not assume any obligation or liability for personal injury or for loss or damage to items of personal property which may occur in its buildings or on its grounds, prior to, during or subsequent to the terms of this Contract, provided that in the event of personal injury or property loss or damage directly resulting from negligent acts or omissions on the part of a University employee or agent, the University shall be responsible for such negligence to the extent provided by applicable law. This disclaimer of liability includes but is not limited to damage or loss caused by fire, water, theft, and flooding. Residents are strongly encouraged to purchase renter's insurance for protection against property loss and property damage. No interruption of utility services, heating and cooling shall be deemed as an eviction or disturbance of residents’ use of the facilities or render the University liable for damages unless the University willfully refused to supply said services without cause or excuse.
