Common use of University-Supported Efforts Clause in Contracts

University-Supported Efforts. (1) If the work was not made in the course of independent efforts, the work is the property of the University and the employee shall share in the net income therefrom. (2) Ownership of the following types of works shall be retained by the University, and the employee shall share in the net income: Works produced with the use of appreciable university support; works expressly commissioned or contracted by the University, where the University provided direct and detailed specifications for the content, nature, direction, and form of expression and exercising authority over final acceptance; and works conceived or developed through a university-administered- and externally-sponsored agreement.
