Use of Vacation Time. Accrued Vacation Time must be used prior to taking any time off without pay. Vacation Time used for reasons other than to cover the nurse’s illness or injury or a child’s illness must be prescheduled and approved. Approval is contingent on staffing and department needs.

If a nurse uses unscheduled vacation time immediately prior to or following an approved vacation leave, verification by a health care provider may be required. Proven abuse of vacation or sick leave may be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including discharge.
